Siobhan Neller

BHP

After graduating from the University of Adelaide with a Bachelor of Chemical Engineering (Hons), Siobhan moved to the quiet town of Roxby Downs to take on the opportunity to be a Graduate Metallurgist in the most complex mineral deposit and associated Processing Plant the Southern Hemisphere has to offer at BHP’s Olympic Dam Mine. The Olympic Dam Mine and Processing Plant has a unique minerology which brings no small amount of challenges every day to the teams working to produce world-class Copper products.

Siobhan has gained a vast amount of Hydrometallurgical experience in both Copper and Uranium Solvent Extraction plants in technical metallurgical, and now operational leadership roles through the SX processing plants at Olympic Dam. Siobhan has a specific interest in optimisation of Solvent Extraction processes and has contributed to the technical development of models to reduce operational spend within the Olympic Dam SX plants while maintaining a strong extraction yield of metals. Siobhan enjoys developing technical plans alongside the Junior Metallurgists, providing operations and technical input to new design projects and watching them come to life in execution phase, and seeing the plant performance increase with every shutdown campaign.

Although no longer working in a Technical space, Siobhan’s background and enthusiasm for Solvent Extraction success is delivered to her operational teams every day. When not at Olympic Dam (which is rare, Siobhan is part of the furniture) she is usually able to be found at the Horse stables enjoying some quality time with her four-legged family members, or enjoying driving through the sand dunes that surround the quiet town of Roxby Downs in her four wheel drive with her Border Collie and miniature Dachshund at her side.
