Studies chemical engineering at Chalmers and finished a PhD at Chalmers in 1999 with the title “Uncertainties in Actinide solubility Calculations Illustrated using the Th-OH-PO4 System”.

Made his post doc at ANSTO in Australia and then returned to Chalmers to start heading the separation and transmutation group.

In 2007 he became full professor and the first holder of Stenas Chair in Industrial Materials Recycling and 2012 also full professor in Nuclear chemistry.

He is elected member of the Royal Swedish Academy of engineering Sciences and the Royal Society for Arts and Sciences.

The main focus is solution chemistry in applications ranging from separation science, mining contaminated transport together with nuclear sciences and mining activities.

He is co-editor in chief of Solvent Extraction and Ion exchange
